So I went back to Guatemala City for the weekend. Marti and Carlos took me to market.
Check the “Photos de Antigua” page for more market photos… (even though the market was in Guatemala city)

oh? you went fruit market??
did you get your favorite avocado??
wuu!! looks delicious!!
somehow feels like i could smell the sweet smell of those apple! beautiful! and super red!!
ja~
those aren’t apples, they are tomatoes.
also, im sure that marty and carlos loaded up the van, like, to the brim.
mmm, I love tomatoes that smell like apples…
And yes, they loaded up the car. The fruit is ·super· cheap, something like 8 avocadoes for 1.50US
oh yes….. i guess i kind of blind as you both know and plus talking without brain….. of course tomato… apple is not warm weather fruit….
man…….
delete it delete it, please…..
my retarded side could only let you both know…
we have cold weather in guatemala also, and some great apples.
it is funny how the light over there is different from here…..there light particles are more bright and vibrant…..and i believe the camera is the one does the trick….i guess you became marti n calito’s go-to guy….think that is a great honor for a gringo boy….congrat!!! u moved one notch up….jajaja~~
the light over there is actually very nice. its bright, vibrant, colors are saturated… antigua looks fake at about 5.45-6.15, its completely a differernt world.
careful analysis here… those look like RED DELICIOUS apples even the dimples on the guy popping up from lower left give hand to the notion that they are such and you know what from the crates they are packed in i’m gonna say they are neither tomato or apple but pepper.
the banana girl is the best. she is auspiciously posing with her yellow frock and yellow produce as carrot picker goes to it.
and the English grammar is already disintegrating, THAT is the congratulatory mark here not that you are a gringo (“john and joan take me to market”).
that buddy in the stripes would not nearly be just twiddling his thumbs if they were apples… he’d be going to town… have you ever been apple picking and not cheated at least a dozen apples before you weigh in… your toilet know the truth (((ahhh!!!! ano/año mindset, Freud says stoppp!)))
and now i can eat my words… my English is just as fabulous.
I’m not going to comment on the fruit except that it looks delicious and I love outdoor marketplaces. I’m glad you’re eating your fruits and veggies, my darlin’ son!
I am loving this blog Brian! I can appreciate the vegetable/fruit confusion, however. Not one to try new things myself, I rarely offered veggies to my kids. When Mikey spent one Easter dinner at my friend’s when I worked (about age 20) he marveled as a dish was passed “wow, those are the biggest carrots I’ve ever seen!!”. Everyone laughed. They were sweet potatoes. (Sabrina, you aren’t feeling your comment needs deleting now, right?) Thanks for sharing all these wonderful experiences Brian!
